calve muscle question...

hey all :glasses:
gotta question, if anyone has any ideas, tips or suggestions...
i've always had muscular calve muscles (not that i'm a fan:grumble: ) but i've been a dancer all my life and wa-la! comes large calves! i recently had ankle surgery, which left me off of my right foot for a period of 3 months. with that said, i have one HUGE calve on the left and one itty bitty wasted away calve on the right. hmmmph! i've just got the go ahead from the doc to begin to exercise slowly with no-impact exercises (walking, swimming, biking, elliptical, etc). i've been doing a lot of stretching and calf raises the build up my jelly-like muscle on the right....but what about downsizing the HUGE one? i prefer not to have such large calve muscles, but is this just something that is in my genetic build or a way i could soften them a bit and make them smaller?

other than by forcing atrophy, that's going to be difficult. You could try stretching the calf regularly, but that's only going to do so much good. Considering how much we use our calves, it's a long road to force your calf into atrophy (as you well know already with the other leg).
In other words, the only way I know of to reduce a muscle's mass is to not use it. How effective you can be with an every day muscle like the calf, is really up to you.0 -
I would love to know the answer to this, too. I think my calves look very masculine because they are so big.0

I love the maculinity of my calves :laugh:0 -
Thick calves are my fantasy. I have big thighs and small calves and very skinny ankles. my aunt nicknamed me froggy because of this. I used to wear leggings to hide my skinny calves and ankles. So enjoy your calves!!0
