Hi, I am running into the same problem. I eat my fat allotment that is considered healthy and need to eat like 600 more calories to be at the target. If I fill up on veggies, it's not fat but also no calories.

I don't eat wheat or pasta's and that's where I could pick up the calories. I have allergies and diabetes so I can eat very little grains. I do eat some beans but have to be careful because of the carbs for diabetes. please help. kc

What about fruit? It has no fat, more calories than your average veggie. And there's even higher-calorie veggies, like yams and potatoes.

I am not aware of your particular needs as a diabetic, nor am I an MD, but it seems like a question you should ask your doctor. Just ask them if they have any recommendations for higher-calorie fruits and veggies you can fill up on that would be good for you.

I reserve the right to be wrong, of course. :-)

Fruit and potatos are high in carbs for diabetics.

Can you eat lower fat during the day so you have some left over?

I don't worry about my fat grams that much, personally. I try to get in enough protein and limit carbs and calories and I let the fat grams fall where they may.

My cholesterol level was 131 the last time I had it checked so I don't see that eating a few extra fat grams a day is hurting me.

I dieted once and stayed within my calories but didn't drop a pd. I found out why when I added up my fat grams. I was eating cream cheese and nuts. Even though I stayed in my calories, I was way over the fat. So I am trying to calculate calories and points and fat. thanks for the suggestions. ( I can only have two fruits a day) diabetes. kc

More meat, less dairy and nuts. Adds calories and protein without a high fat content.

plenty of healthy stuff with low or no fat. I think of lean ground turkey (99% fat free, maybe 1 gram of fat usually), obviously fruits and veggies, fat free yogurt, skim milk...etc.

If you're not allergic to eggs, you could use egg whites.

thank you for the suggestions. I can see I need to pick it up with some ff products and meat.
And one person said that a calorie is a calorie. I don't know. When I have a high percentage of fat calories, I don't lose. Maybe it's the diabetes. Thanks, kc
