Beginning the work out- motivation needed!

Hey guys,
So I'm starting again on my fitness and weight loss journey. Because of a number of mental health issues, I've been unable to succeed- but THIS time I've got the support of a therapist, and my body builder/rugby player brother is giving me a 1-hour session once a week, so I'm feeling ridiculously confident about it.
Anyway- I know from experience that when I start up again, I need to take it slow and do small bursts of exercise over the day- I love to use an exercise bike, and once I get my student membership to the gym up and running again, I love the elliptical machine! I'm also doing aerobic type exercises at least once a day, using weights in each hand to introduce a little resistance in there. Well, today I bought a kettle bell (yet to try, but my bro is going to help me with it!) and a skipping rope, and I'm utterly despondent with the state of things! I could barely skip for more than 5-6 minutes, and even that wasn't constant skipping.
I feel really dejected, even though I'm not going to let this stop me, and I need a little encouragement, MFP-ers! Did you find you couldn't do stuff for very long at the beginning, and how did you motivate yourself to just keep at it?

Spanglemagnet, sounds like you are being a bit hard on yourself. Um... skippping rope for 5-6 minutes is AMAZING! A minute is a long time to be jumping up and down, especially when you are overweight. I know because I agreed to do 1000 jumping jacks before Saturday. I thought it would be simple...lmao!
When I started on here again, it was hard to get back into the swing of things..but I just kept at it. If I missed a day, I'd just start back the next day. I always complete a workout once I start and I make up my mind that I'm going to do this, because this is the way to my goals.
Also, I work out first thing, because I'm more likely to make better eating choices during the day and once I've had a good day it tends to carry over to the next morning!! Good luck!0
