Using old photos as motivation to lose weight

In 2007 I was approximately 12.6 stone (I'm 5'11") and wore size 14 trousers with size 10 tops (on average). I'm currently about 15 stone wearing size 16 trousers and size 12/14 tops.

Here's a photo of me at my heaviest (around 15.10 stone) last year and below are the photos of what I used to look like ie. the ones my work colleagues said didn't look like me:

Now I did get to that size last time due to depression (unlike most people I don't comfort eat - when I get depressed I lose all appetite and I pretty much stopped eating virtually everything for about 3 weeks) which I'm aware is of course a very unhealthy way to do it, but I was happy with how I looked afterwards (depression was nothing to do with my weight) as I've got over my depression and my love of Cadbury's has not waned, my weight has crept up again. I was always proud of my wash board stomach and huge waist to hip ratio, but that's not so good anymore.

So I'm aiming to lose weight via exercise and calorie counting - no gyms for me, just late night walking around the village and using an exercise bike. Not going to drop the calories very low as I know I will lose motivation from hunger and end up falling off the wagon as it were. I figure if I cut down a little on food, but still allow myself the odd luxury, plus exercise a bit more, then the weight should come off gradually.
