Triglycerides - up and down, what about alcohol?

Hi Everyone! I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this, but I"m wondering if anyone has had this experience.

I had my lipid panel done today (I do this yearly) and my triglycerides are 340 - in the past 5 years they have been 289, 166, 285, 117 (last year) and now 340. All of my other cholesterol levels and blood pressure are fine.

My doctor is intrigued by this! I've lost 28 pounds since last year and my tris have tripled! I was also 20 pounds thinner when they were 285 in 2010. So the whole "lose weight and lower triglcerides" doesn't work for me! Also, 40% of my diet is carbs, and she said that is good.

The doctor asked me if I drank last night, I didn't but I did on Tuesday (less than 48 hours ago 5 beers - hey I was at a Buffett concert!) and she's thinking this might be my problem. So now I will have another test in a couple of weeks without having had any drinks. I don't drink that often but maybe it is coincidental to my levels. Weird, huh?
