Greatest One-Hit Wonder of All Time, opening round
It’s bracket tournament time again here at MFP!
Last time, we crowned the Greatest Movie of All Time, Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark. This time, we delve into the world of music. Just where in that world is this tournament taking us? Well, we’re now going to decide upon the Greatest One-Hit Wonder of All Time.
Now, last time we divided up the movies into four genre-based regions. This time, to make it a little more exciting, we’re gonna go all out from the start. Now, that means a more to vote on at once – so I hope you guys are down with that. (Also means longer tallying time for me, at least in the initial rounds, but I’m down with that.) The benefit of this is that different eras and styles will meet up all the way through, which I think is kind of fun.
So, here it is … the Greatest One-Hit Wonder of All Time field of 64.

6. “Ice Ice Baby” by Vanilla Ice (1991)
Let the games begin.0 -
43. “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)” by The Proclaimers (1995) (This song is amazing, but the Proclaimers aren't a one-hit-wonder)
generally, to be a one-hit wonder, a song has to make it into the top 40 in the U.S. and the group then has to fail to get another song back to that point. (yup. biased to the states. sorry.)
the proclaimers have a huge following in the UK, and have multiple songs high on the charts there. but the only one that hit in the states was 500 miles. it topped out at No. 3, and No. 21 on the rock charts.0 -
