Apparently those little safety clip-ons on the treadmill are actually there for a reason and not just to annoy you. I was walking along while watching a movie. It got to an interesting point and my mind wandered for just a second .... and I stopped walking. The next thing I know I'm on my butt on the floor and the dogs are heading for the hills.

I got up, rubbed my sore spots for a second, let the dogs out, and got back on the treadmill. I still can't bring myself to use that silly clip though.

Ouch, how does the safety clip work?

Depending on the machine, you usually just clip it onto your clothes. OR there are models where you put a band around your wrist. If you fall, it pulls on the clip, which is attached to the machine by a string, so the machine stops, which can prevent some nasty injuries.

The bad thing is the clips have to attach to the treadmill pretty lightly so they'll come loose easy, which would be okay, but on mine when it's pulled loose it turns the treadmill off and resets your progress. After losing my place the 5th or 6th time I finally taped that sucker in place. It's not going anywhere.

On the downside, even at a good walking clips those things can fling you halfway across the room. I'm a little sore, and probably will be more tomorrow, but it's just temporary.
