Suggestions for a couple visiting Kansas City?
My boyfriend and I will be spending a long weekend in Kansas City August 9th-12th. We already have our lodging situation figured out, and we're going to a Crosby, Stills, and Nash concert on the evening of the 9th (Thursday). That means we'll have all day Friday and Saturday to do other fun things. We'll probably be leaving town Sunday morning. I know there are lots of touristy things to do, but I was hoping for some suggestions from locals or people who have visited a lot and have more unique ideas.
It's my boyfriend's birthday weekend, which is why I bought the concert tickets. The one touristy thing I think he would enjoy is the Boulevard Brewing Co. tour. We are pretty practical people and aren't wild about spending exorbitant amounts of money on things, but we have quirky interests so throw all your ideas my way!

Gotta try some BBQ while in town. I suggest Jack Stack or Oklahoma Joe's. Might go down to the Plaza and walk around the shops and fountains. There is an amusement park called Worlds Of Fun with roller coasters and a water park with it. There is also the Legends area. Its just outside of Kansas City but that's where the race track is. All sorts of restaurants and outlet shops, its HUGE. They have a great new orleans style restaurant called the Jazz, there is a Dave and Busters. Funny how I know all the food places lol. Just depends on what kinda stuff you like to do. Kansas City has it all from free concerts in the park, bbq, great shopping, plenty of things to do here. Just let me know.0

Arthur Bryants or Jack Stack. MMMMMMM....
There's a new aquarium, Union Station and Liberty Memorial all are in the same area and Liberty Memorial houses the WWI museum. Nelson Atkins Art Museum, Harry S Truman Library, the zoo isn't bad, but it's in a really bad neighborhood. I'm sure there's more, Powell Gardens isn't too far away from KC. I try to stay away from KC, honestly. I like my little rural area south of there!0 -
Nteeter- is Jazz really that good? I've been wanting to try it.0
