Did you guys see this? A bit worrisome, for some!

I saw this article on Science Daily today. Doesn't look like "PANIC TIME" but it doesn't look great, either. Gave me something to think about, at least. Though I don't do low carb (I love veggies!) and I already cut back on the protein a bit because my doc said my kidney function was high.

excerpts from the article bold is mine for emphasis:
(an extra 4-5 cases of cardiovascular disease per 10,000 women per year)
Low carbohydrate-high protein diets are frequently used for body weight control. Although they may be nutritionally acceptable if the protein is mainly of plant origin (e.g. nuts) and the reduction of carbohydrates applies mainly to simple and refined ones (i.e. unhealthy sweeteners, drinks and snacks), the general public do not always recognise and act on this guidance
Increasing level of education and physical activity reduced the risk of cardiovascular disease whilst increasing levels of smoking increased the risk.
The authors conclude that LCHP diets "used on a regular basis and without consideration of the nature of carbohydrates or the source of proteins" are associated with cardiovascular risk.
Summary in my words:
If you don't educate yourself and eat crap protein and crap low carbs, your body is going to be crap. Healthy proteins and complex or "good" carbs and physical activity are still the way to go. (if you want to do low carb that is- you of course don't have to do that to get results)0 -
In addition to the points josyjozy already made, this was study was based on questionaires mailed to people. Not exactly the most reliable data, and it's impossible to control for even half the possible confounders. Given the small disparities, it's definitely not time to panic.0
