Missing Meals

So I missed lunch today and had a small breakfast, putting me about 900 calories under my goal. This happens to me pretty much any day I forget to pack a lunch because I'm busy during the day, so not often, but once or twice a week. My question is, if you're this short at the end of the day, do you personally try to eat extra or just call it a bonus? Generally I just follow my hunger level and call it good enough, but I was thinking about making a dessert protein smoothie to bump my calories up by a few hundred... What do you do?

I very seldom leave extra calories laying around. They get into things, they fall on the floor and my wife trips over them, and sometimes they'll get frisky with the neighbor lady and before you know it I'm on Maury trying to prove I ain't the baby daddy. Nomsayin'?

Seriously though, I'd eat and do not feel guilty. Plenty of people skip meals and eat massive meals later. It's perfectly fine provided you're eating an appropriate TOTAL intake of food for the day.

I'm posting this here, because I basically have the same question. I've been 'dieting' for about 2 weeks now, but have only been using mfp for the past 3 days. My diary is public, or at least I hope I've done that right, so anyone interested can take a look at it. But everyday I've been well under my caloric allowance. The issue I have is I eat alot. I'm full at every meal and really enjoy what I'm eating. It just doesn't feel right to eat more when I'm not hungry. I feel good too, no headaches, tummy rumbles, light headedness, etc. And I'm sleeping really well lately (I previously had trouble sleeping) I get at least 8 hours sleep every night. My main concern is I'm damaging my body by not eating enough though, even if I'm NOT hungry.

    LOL.

Sidesteal, I'll go ahead and have the smoothie. Wouldn't want to risk Maury. I'll still be 500 under, but whatever. I'm sure I'll have a high day to make up for it soon enough :P. And Amy, I feel the same way: it is super weird to -try- to eat when you're not hungry after spending so much time tuning the hunger signals!
