Health Retreat Ideas

I have been invited to be a trainer at a health and healing retreat in October in Destin, Florida and would love input on what you would like to learn if you went to one. I'm doing mini bootcamps with workouts - cardio, weight training, and yoga - and we are eating and cooking very clean foods - primarily vegan. Our hope is that the people who attend (there is only room for 10 so it is a small group) will be able to lose a few lbs and come away with huge support and strength going into the Holidays.

What would you like to learn at something like this?

My answer may not be the most popular but what I've always wanted to learn when researching any diet is how to lose weight when you are a picky eater. As a child, I was not exposed to very many foods and, although I'm constantly trying new foods as an adult, the fact is that I'm a very picky eater. I've always had to tweak diets to fit around my eating habits and I've always wished that nutritionists would address an issue like this one.

Also, different workouts for the different stages of weight loss. I.E. what type of exercise I'm able to do at say, 270 pounds versus what I'll be able to push my body to do at say, 180, etc. I think that many of us who start dieting want to immediately jump into serious workouts and when we just can't push our bodies to handle it, we get frustrated and give up. Whereas, if we realize there are different workouts for weight range and we'll eventually condition our bodies to handle those heavier workouts. If that makes any sense at all?

I would love to learn about all the many cleanses out in the world today. If they work, if they're healhty etc. I would also like to learn about what you need to look for in foods to complete a day when you have worked out.

I go to a spa each year for my own health and fitness retreat - some of the things I've enjoyed learning about is how to cook healthier and make healthy foods taste delicious, how to use a variety of herbs and different whole grains, etc... Also, a refresher on good nutrition, debunking myths, etc... is always helpful. Another thing I've enjoyed is the opportunity to try lots of different types of exercise classes that I might be hesitant to try at my home gym (or that they don't offer.

I think this is a great idea and the participants will really enjoy it and feel great afterwards! Good luck!
