okay, so I am eating a piece of gum.. Trident to be exact. I normally do not eat a lot of gum, but today I just felt like having a piece.

on the cover of the wraper it says Phenylketonurics: contains phenyalanine.

Isn't that crap bad for you, causes birthdefects, irriversable brain damage (in large dosages?)

"Nutrition fact about Phenylalanine in aspartame:

The 1976 Groliers encyclopedia states cancer cannot live without phenylalanine. Phenylalanine makes up 50% of aspartame" http://www.sweetpoison.com/phenylalanine.html

There are other websites, but too much information to read. Why does the FDA make terms so difficult to understand. All we need to know is Good/ Bad.

Phenylalanine only causes problems if you're allergic to it. It causes brain damage in those who are allergic, but you'd know if you were.
