Just wanted to introduce myself...
Grew up the fat kid, was the rarity thru the 70's what is common now in the second millineum...after college, got off my sedentary butt and took a job as a full time Paramedic (worked my way thru college part time as a basic EMT-was fat then!) Stopped eating bad on the job (basically stopped the 12" double cheeseburg subs for the 1/2 turkey sub loonng before Jared came along) and started looking hard at what went into my body, learned to cook for myself and by the time I was 22 I had gone from 258lbs, 46"waist and 17.5" neck to 182 pounds and a 34 inch waist, 16 " neck...I was in way better shape, but still not fit...
Over the next 15-18 years, I did various forms of exercise, none of which really caught on, but kept me in a 10 lb range...still never felt "fit"
then I fell for P90x...started with Power 90 and the master series, then moved on to P90x, and then insanity...
I was and still am hooked on what i have done with my body...I am stronger, way more flexible, and much more fit...I however DONT look like the beachbody pics, despite 2 rounds of p90x, one round of insanity and one round of a hybrid of both...i do notice a difference, but i started at such a deficeit that i still have some more to go.
I am ready to move on...!
my goals are to
1. find a great body weight training program...
2. max out my functional fitness
3. bulk a bit, but manily tone
4.would love to try my hand at running..couch to 5k maybe...but my knees arent great
5.find a great home power yoga program
6.find a great home Tai Chi (Qi?) program
came hear looking for new programs i can do at home (i get up early in the am before work to exercise)
would love to keep my workouts shorter
and the one great thing about the beachbody programs for me was the structure...otherwise i just dont think i would do this stuff.
I will be back to post some questions as I explore my options for taking my fitness goals to the next level!
