And now...a Mario analogy

Ok so I'm going to make a weight loss Mario analogy that will undoubtedly be bad, and I'm going to gleefully take bits and pieces from all the Mario games, so true gamers will probably judge me, but I don't care!
I stepped on the scale today and saw a number that seemed monumental. 194.4 lbs. I have been hovering just over the 195 mark for a week or two now so this seemed very exciting! And here's why:
195 lbs marks the start of my Bowser Battle. It is the point at which I have lost enough that all I have left is my Freshman 15. Now my freshman year of university was 10 years ago, and until November of last year those 15 lbs were joined by 37 of their nasty little friends. I managed to squash a couple of them like goombas from time to time, but nothing so consistent as the loss that I've seen (and maintained) in the last 8 months. At my turn around point I was a whopping 232 lbs and felt kind of like Mario in the penguin suit.
Each pound I've lost so far seems like a minor victory taken as I side scroll through my weight loss journey. The first 15 lbs were kind of like I had found a star, was clearing out pounds as if they were koopa troopas in my path. Each time I hit a milestone it was like I had taken a leap onto the end of level flag pole and fireworks were cheering me on.
Things slowed down a bit when I got below 200 lbs. The lbs kept threatening to sneak back up on me whenever I turned my back. Obviously this was the ghost level.
But today I have progressed to Bowser's Castle, and not only gotten there but managed to do the first jump onto Bowser's head! I'm sure it'll be an exhausting and long battle and in the end I'll be greeted by an obnoxious little toad congratulating me and telling me that the Princess (my ideal weight) is in another castle (new weight goal) but as stated previously, this is monumental!
Happy Friday everyone, and to my Canadian brethren, Happy Canada Day weekend!

Oooh analogy continuation!
Bowser is being cantankerous and I had to hit the B button like crazy to avoid being tossed into the lava today. 30 degree day in Ottawa (35 with the humidex) and decided I needed to finish get in an 8k run on my lunch break.
Thanks to auroranflash for the 1 up, definitely needed it!0 -
