question on sets and reps and stuff...

Quite possibly a stupid question but I’m going for it anyway….

Lately I have been doing a few exercises whenever I have a minute. In the morning after I get dressed before I wake up my kids I’ll do 15 squats and/or 15 chest presses on my exercise ball. When my boss leaves the office for a bit I’ll do 15 dips on the side of my desk. Sometimes while making my kiddies dinner I will stop and to 15 pushup. I try to get each thing in a few times during the day since actually finding the extra time to do it all together is almost impossible on top of work, kids, and running whenever I get extra time (which I enjoy and don’t want to skip). So the questions is does this really do anything or do you have to max out your muscles doing 3 sets of 15 reps all at once. Thanks for any input you may have.

Im no expert.. far from it...but I would think the saying "something is better than nothing" would apply here. Just say all I have in a day is 15 extra minutes to exercise...that 15 minutes is better spent exercising than sitting doing nothing !!! (or mindless eating!!!)

Something is better than nothing, but an idea would be to maybe integrate the pushups, situps, etc into your running. Every mile maybe drop and do 15-30 pushups, situps or whatever. Obviously break it up so you can get a few sets in with your run.
