Hello All
I'm not new to losing weight, or to MFP. I have been tracking my eats and my weight for a while, and after much too-ing and fro-ing, I think I finally have a handle on it (and quite a few love handles ... Haha).
I do have a question/comment though......
When does it become an obsession?
A good friend of mine is doing exceptionally well, fitness wise as well as weight loss wise .... But he works out 7 days a week (without fail), his nutrition is mainly supplements of one form or another, protien shakes, tablets of so many different kinds, yet rarely does he eat! A few bits of raw veg, and chicken is about all!
He doesn't see it but it is affecting his relationships, as he does put going to the gym before anything (to the point where he'll start work ridiculously early so he can fit a gym session in before seeing his girlfriend, who he only sees at weekends - and even at weekends he takes her to the gym!).
I can't remember the last time he properly let his hair down and just kicked back. Went out for a few drinks... As he's always thinking, I need to go to the gym tomorrow!
Is he going to be like this forever? Shouldn't he now just ease of a little or he'll have to keep this up every day just to maintain?
Or am I totally wrong?
Thankyou
(nice light topic to start with

Hi lollipoppa,
I just joined today to give myself a proper kick up the fat *kitten* so I am very new to MFP!
Re your friend, it's so terribly easy to get an exercise addiction, it's sounds mad but it's actually true. It can really affect everything you do and your social life takes a massive dip as you basically think of how eating and drinking will set you back. I'd say given that he eats protein bars/shakes daily, he's clearly very determined however, it's not sustainable for his future and he's probably become a little obsessed about it all. I don't really know if you can help as I don't see what benefit talking to him would do as if he's in that mind set and is succeeding in losing weight, it might be tough hearing that he's went overboard from his good friend.
Good luck and no doubt see you on here again!
