NET is lower than goal...good or bad?!

My NET at the end of the day is generally alot lower than my goal? Is this a good thing?
I generally put in everything I have eaten then put in my exercise for that day at which point it gives me more calories which I ignore as i don't think beacuse I've done exercise I should eat more
I'm getting really confused with what the NET actually means as other sites seem to suggest that it is the same as your deficit?
Help please?!
