We are having guests over for the game today. I would like to make something a little more healthy......compared to all the usual suspects (ie: wings, nachos, burgers, etc). It wouldn't suprise me if I ended up being the only person eating it.....but it would be nice to have a healthier alternative available. Any ideas?

If you want to make something that everyone will enjoy, you could make the diet soda cupcakes that are all over the recipe board- they're right around 100 calories per cup cake so you could have one and know exactly what you're having calorie-wise.

Also, what about: baked tortilla chips and salsa, fruit salad, whole grain crackers with Laughing Cow (or any kind of low fat) cheese, you can make boneless buffalo wings in the oven if you dip a lean piece of chicken in egg beaters then roll it in crushed up cereal/crackers/bread crumbs, then bake it and dip in in buffalo wing sauce... I even use Walden Farms "calorie free" (very low calorie is more like it) blue cheese... yummy!

Good luck- enjoy the game :flowerforyou:
  • Hummus with home made pita chips!

Stuffed jalepeno poppers- cut the peppers in half, fill with a mix of low fat cream cheese, some garlic powder and mozz cheese...then dip the bottoms in eggwash then into seasoned bread crumbs...put in oven at 350 for 20-25 mins. They go well with football!

    GO BEARS!:drinker:

Just thought of another one... get some mini whole wheat bagels and make your own bagel pizzas... like "Bagel Bites" that you can get in the frozen section... yum!
  • whole wheat pita chips with home made taziki dip... always good and pretty low in the bad fats if you make the taziki with low fat yogurt... make it yourself though alot of the ones you buy aren't really that great.

There's a recipe in the hungry Girl Cookbook for Boneless Wings. You cut a bonless skinless chicken breast in chunks and dip them in hot sauce. The crust is Crushed Fibre One, crushed fat free bbq Pringles and some spices. Bake them for about 20 minutes. 150 Cal and 1.5g fat for 5 wings!
