Body Pump class - start now!

If anyone was wondering about starting a Les Mills Body Pump class - start next week! That's when the routine changes so no-one will know what they're doing! I'm in the UK, but my instructor said it's a worldwide program
Don't worry about what weights to use...some in the class don't use them, just start light and pile them on week by week until you know where you're at. If you put the clips before the last weight, it's easy to tip the bar and drop them off if you struggle
Go for it! It's really good fun and it really tones you up! And it's not 'aerobiccy'...you sweat, but there's no 'out of breathness' (I HATE aerobics)
(I should be on Les Mills' payroll)

They offer it at my gym, but I've been really intimidated to try it. Can you (or anyone) give a little more information about what you do in the class? Also, everyone in there seems to have a lot of equipment - what do you need besides a barbell? Also, what weight should I start at? I have 5 lb hand weights that I use for various arm exercises, but I don't think I am particularly strong. Any advice would be appreciated before I start0

I do the Body Pump class at my gym one day a week. I LOVE it!!!!! It is a great way to make women not fear weights and weight lifting. I would HIGHLY recommend doing it. Mind you this work out will fatigue the muscles and you may be sore for days afterwards, but in order for it to work, you need to break down the muscle in order to build it back up again (DRINK LOTS of water!!) I will tell you, that if you weigh yourself, you will see a slight weight gain - do not stress that (it is water being released from the tissue)
ETA: as a beginner, the instructor will tell you to start light, you will work your way up! Take a towel, water and a yoga type mat, the other equipment the gym will let you use.0
