I've always exercised. Sometimes I eat a lot, because, who doesn't love food??? This summer I've started hiking. The weight is falling off. And I'm eating whatever I want, on the days I hike. Thats if I have enough of an appetite after crawling up and down rocks with a 40lb pack on my back. (I'm 126lb, so thats heavy for me)

Anyways, I came across this interesting piece from a hiker. If your into eating loads of food, have a baseline fitness level and love the outdoors, the hiker diet may just be for you!

And don't think you have to be superfit to do this. I'm of very average fitness level. And very petite. The exercise is great, and the ability to eat without worry about it while on the trail is awesome.

Cyclist, hill runners etc all burn massive amounts of calories and are forever eating. Problem I foresee is developing a habit of eating non stop. The habit may just continue when the exercise stops.

The exercise never has to stop. If there is one bit of advice I can give to anyone trying to lose weight, don't-get fit the weight will drop. And to anyone trying to get fit. Find something you like. Do it with someone you like/love. Don't make it work. We work too much in this life. I'm happy when I burn a tonne of calories working hard, then I get to eat and not worry....as long as it's healthy.
