There are a number of different calculators out there. I know the most accurate test is skin fold or bodpod but I don't wanna spend the money for an assessment.
I tried using 3 different online calculators and they gave me completely different answers. My fat distribution is primarly in the stomach area.
http://www.fat2fitradio.com/tools/bf/ 27% measures wrist, waist, hip, forearm
http://www.fat2fitradio.com/tools/mbf/ 36% measures neck, waist, hip
http://www.fat2fitradio.com/tools/cbbf/ 21% measures wrist, waist, hip, forearm, thigh, calf
Which calculator did you guys find the most accurate? There is no way I'm 21% but I don't think I'm 36% either.
How can I figure out where I fit in?

FYI, as a point of reference, 33% is the upper allowable limit for females in the military. It's 22% for guys. They use the neck, waist and hip method.0

Does anyone who is 5'5 have a picture at 25%, 30%, or 35% body fat?0

I did use the military calculator but it gave me completely differenet answer than the other two at 36%.0 -
I think the third one might be pretty accurate. Where do u measure hips tho? Around the butt or the actuall bones0

I always want a good answer for this question as well, since there is a HUGE difference for me! My undies are like a size 7, but my measurements would seem to put me at a far larger number. I always thought you were were supposed to measure around your widest part, which for me of course includes my butt.0 -
I took my hip measurments at the widest point (around butt). Forearm and leg was also at the widest points. My waist depended on what the calculator asked. I think it asked at measurment at naval so that's what I put in.
I'm probably somewhere at between 25% and 35%? I really don't know though.0 -
^^^ I'm with you on this one. My behind is a little big, and when I include it, it puts me at a far larger number as well.0

I'm 5'5" and the other two pics in my profile page are at around 25%. I would also like to get an accurate measurement now but the results I get from the online calculators vary by about 6%.0 -

I would have to say you look slimmer so i'm probably closer to 30-35%. How much does a skinfold test cost?0 -

Yeah that does help. Based on those pictures I would say 28% or so. So the first calculator is the most accurate for me.0 -
Maybe this will help. Please be honest I won't take offense.0

I just had my bodyfat done and it was 24.5% via caliper-testing. Honestly, just pick one, and use it as a reference. All that matters is that those numbers go down, down, down...There's just no perfect way to measure BF unless you pay to get a DEXA scan. I've found the online calculators estimate mine very low though. They give me anywhere from 16-19%, which I know is not accurate. I just go with the calipers, but if I didn't have calipers, I'd just pick something and use it as a guide. Best wishes! :flowerforyou:
BTW, my "before" pics in my profile were me at 37.9% in January--you could use those as reference too if you wish.0 -
