So I've been using MFP for a bit now. I figure it's about time I become a little more interactive with the site since I've been able to stick with it for a while. My name is Thomas and in my younger years I ran D1 track (400m hurdler) and never once had issues with having to control what I ate, how much I ate or the amount of beer I consumed. With a young metabolism and extremely active life, everything just burned off. Here I am now, 6 months away from turning 30 and dealing with about 5 years of struggling with my weight. At one point, I was up to 245 at a height of 5'9". Once I was done with track and started getting older, I didn't change my eating and drinking habits and the pounds just packed on.

My goal is to do my first 50 miler within' 3 years. I want to get back into running, and distance running is something you can do well into age. I've set my initial goal with a half marathon in Sept, and a marathon in Nov. Been doing lots of running, and hitting the gym as well. I'll admit I still haven't been as tough on my diet as I should be, simply trying to stay within portions right now. And I do still enjoy a little too much of my beer on the weekends. I'm feeling better and ready to clean up my diet for good (Haha.. maybe I'll switch to a gluten-free beer.. but wont ever give it up completely =P )

I am currently 229 @ 5'9". I want to get down to 180-185 when all is said and done, with 7-9% body fat.

I hope to extend my support network while using MFP, and hope to provide motivation over time as well as receive a bit of it myself. Happy, healthy living to all! Thanks for reading, hope to get to know ya'll, please feel free to send me a message and an invite!
