I went to school for that!

I'm back in the baking business where I started working in 1973. Back then it was a hot dirty business. Use to go home with dough balls hanging off my arms, where sweat and flour met. There was a ton of flour hanging in the air in those days. I did that for 13 years with the latter 4 years attending college. It closed in 1986.

Some of the people I worked with in 1986 now work for the same company that employs me. I get quite a few comments these days since I'm in the office and out of the heat. One guy asked what time do you come in? I said 8 a.m. "You got banker's hours! I said, "I went to school for banker's hours." Uh, you should have seen the look on his face. He was just stunned. Bet he never got an answer like that.

Today an old co-worker said man you are in an air conditioned office. It was 102 here today! Of course I replied, "I went to school for an air conditioned office." That got some laughs. I think they will tire of me pretty fast.

As I left the office the other day a plant worker and coordinator passed in the hall as we were leaving for the day. I said you first, you're the working man. He said no, after you, I know you've worked for where you've gotten. That my friends was a mouthful. I paused on that. Then thought of all the trial and tribulations I've gone through over the years.
