I'm your handy man baby!
My garage door wouldn't go all the way down. Now I'm pretty clueless about electric eyes and motors. I sought advice and got some. But not exactly what I needed though appreciated. It seems about 2 months ago I was backing out of the garage when I noticed my mirror was about to hit the side of the garage entrance. I thought well it's a collapsible mirror and continued. Well that mirror caught between the garage door runner and the garage door frame and not only broke the mirror but knocked the garage door off track and bent the runner.
Bad word, bad word, and a few more bad words. How the heck could that happen. Jeeze, that mirror was suppose to collapse. Well I grab some large pliers and bend the runner back in place after getting the runner wheels inside the track.
Fast forward to now. Yesterday the door wouldn't go down and stay. I was told to adjust the down knob on the door opener. Something didn't seem right to me about that though I understood it. Frankly didn't realize there was such an adjustment. Then today I noticed that one of the electric eyes was green and the other amber. Turns out they are suppose to be that way.
Finally I watched the garage door go down and it seemed to me the brackets holding the guiding wires were catching the electric eye. It seems the incident with the Jeep Mirror must have jarred the runner into the electric eye and then when the heat of the summer swelled the wood it started blocking the eye.
I run through my assortment of dislocated tools and find a half inch socket. Nope, where's the 7/16th. Finally found it after grabbing a trash bag and cleaning the trash off the bench that came from the Jeep months prior.
Then the brackets that hold the eyes on the garage were loose. I first tighten them and then loosen the bolts that adjust the eyes in and out. I pull both out about a half inch and wa-la. Fixed. That made me nervous a bit. I was wondering how accurate I would have to be to get those eyes to work again. Apparently they have a fairly wide spray.
Oh, I fixed the mirror too after watching a YouTube video on how to do it.
And ladies I am available. hehe. For a full resume.................
Okay I feel good.

giggling here... I love it!! I remember a time when a pipe came loose under the sink. My daughter, who has learned you can't count on anyone else, grabbed a pipe wretch and tightened the pipe... that was 15 years ago... hasn't needed to be tightened since. Her name is Summer, so we nicknamed her summer the plumber.0
