Hey everyone!

Just so I am "learning" and everything, I have read online several articles that say that one should not go over a 1000 calorie deficit as this promotes starvation mode and less fat loss.

So my question to all of you is, is it really that terrible of a thing to do? Im not saying I will be doing this or am against/for it, Im just curious if anyone does have a 1000 cal deficit and whether it is or is not working for them! Let me know if you are and whether it benefited or hindered your weight loss. I hear there is a "sweet spot" to calorie deficits, and whether or not its 1000 or 750 or 900, Im just curious...

I don't know your answer, however that being said, I work with quite a few people who stay in the 900 calorie range. They lost really fast at first and now they are excited when they lose a pound. I couldn't personally go that low comfortably but it seems like your body needs more.
  • It going to come on down to personal preference. Me? I am going with half a pound weight loss (250 calorie deficit everyday) each week. Have been doing well and averaging about a pound a week instead. The 2 main arguments on the boards though is eating back exercise calories and should you net below your BMR or not. Again, personal preference. I eat my exercise calories only if I net below my BMR because if I don't, I'm starving the next day. That is my "sweet spot" as you put it in your post.
