Is anyone else on here successfully maintaining/losing while on Prozac? I recently started it and have heard of people gaining weight while on SSRIs. However, I assume that's due to an increase in mood rather than the metabolism slowing down, so I also assume it's entirely within my control not to gain. Has anyone else found this to be true? Thanks!

Some SSRI's can cause appetite stimulation and sedation. As long as you watch what you eat honestly and watch your activity level then you will be fine:) It does not effect metabolism.

I take celexa and while I have noticed being more tired, since I've started exercising and actively working at losing weight last week, I've lost some weight. I will say that days when I don't exercise I'm typically more exhausted than when I do.

Awesome, that's what I thought! My anatomy professor told me that there's still some research being done regarding possible effects on metabolism, but from looking chemically at what's occurring in the brain with the drug's mechanisms, I don't see the connection.

I take zoloft and a mood stabilizer (aka an atomic bomb of anti-weightloss hormones) and yet I've lost 11lb in a month without working all that hard or being that overweight. Ignore the increase in appetite and eventually you'll get used to it.
