What can I do to lose this belly pudge? (pictures)

I love how my body looks except for this lower belly fat. I think it wouldn't bother me as much except it sticks out so much more obviously than the top of my stomach. It looks awful under a tight shirt. Any hints how to improve this. I am working on losing body fat but surely there is some exercises to tone it as well. And... I have had 3 kids. This is all their fault : )

This is flexed. My upper stomach is tight, it's just the lower. Boo!

Planks, reverse crunches and hollow man planks have helped mine.

Are you making sure to include exercises that work the lower abdominal muscles? Standard crunches will not touch the transversus abdominal muscles.

Keep a moderate caloric deficit and keep at it. You may just store a bit more fat there. I wouldn't worry about revamping your diet, it's gotten you this far. Adding a million crunches or sit ups will only help strength, you can't spot reduce.

Oh duh, sorry, should have posted my workouts : ) Right now I am running about 20-25 miles a week over 4 days, usually bike 1 day, swim 1 day and I lift heavy 2 days a week.

1 lifting day a week I do for abs: planks, prone jack knifes, and bicycle crunches

2nd lifting day I do for abs: swiss ball crunches and medicine ball russian twists

    Exactly.

I would also suggest adding in squats, lunges, and deadlifts with heavy weight if you can. These target major muscle groups, which helps with the deficit, along with (assuming a proper deficit) utilizing more stored fat overall.

I have the Insanity DVD's but probably won't be able to do them until December because I am about to start training for a marathon : (

I agree with both of these but I'd like to encourage you to get off the floor for your ab exercises. Add overhead presses and pallof presses to the exercises Cris suggested. OHP's are primarily shoulder exercises but I've noticed that they really engage the core and provide a girdling effect when you pull everything in to stabilize yourself.

Thanks for all the ideas. I do overhead presses, squats and lunges. We don't have any Olympic bar at my gym so I can't do deadlifts : (

Hey there ab buddy! So what do you think we oughta do???
    1) I know we cant do spot reduction
    2) cutting it off with a sharp knife is OUT OF THE QUESTION
    3) We are both already lifting

I bought 30DS, and want to try it out, do you have it? And what do you think about my "pyramid scheme"?

    This is so frustrating!!!

Leg raises! I have never worked my core so hard! If you do them properly! Lay on your back, lock your knees, slowly raise your legs straight up while pushing your abs to the ground, hold and SLOWLY lower almost to the ground.

As noted by the posters above, keep doing what you are doing - it will come off eventually, its probably the place that you are genetically built to lose the fat last....well, that and its the kids fault:tongue: .

You could add in some H.I.I.T, or any form of cardio after you lift or on non lifting days. Just be patient. It will not happen over night. Every one looks for the quick fix, to be honest the less you have to lose the harder it is to lose.
