The effects of eating crap

I've only been at this for a few days, but I've already discovered what happens when I go from eating fresh food to processed crap, and eating until I'm stuffed, etc.
I used to always be sluggish and tired and cranky. I started MFP about two weeks ago (I'm not even really sure) and then was diagnosed with PCOS, and had to cut out all High Fructose Corn Syrup from my diet.
Not having HFCS in my food pretty much made me cut out all processed foods, which has been a blessing.
Since eating fresh food, I've had a lot more oomph, always saying "Yeah, I can do this, etc, etc" and I'm always reading to tackle new projects and stuff now. Yesterday, I cleaned all the grout (spelling?) on our kitchen counter with a toothbrush, and it went from black to gleaming white. This only took me an hour, and I was so pumped and energized when I was doing it.
I want this kind of feeling all the time.
But then, of course, today was a horrible day- I've pretty much had bread and juice all day. Family get togethers are my worst enemy.
The thing that I noticed though, by eating all this processed food, going over my sugar limit by god knows how much, and all the other bad things I've done today, I've noticed some horrible side effects.
1) I'm extremely moody. At first I thought it may be the new birth control I'm taking, but I only started that this morning, so it's not enough time to really effect me.
2) I'm fatigued beyond words. Ever since the bagel and croissant this morning, my energy levels have been hovering around -100,000,000 (note the negative sign
) I can't sit down without feeling like I'm going to fall asleep.
3) Some of the worst constipation and stomach cramps I think I've ever had. I feel like I'm having a baby, I'm serious.
I don't think I'll ever have a binge day like I did this morning.
The darn side effects of eating crap.

:flowerforyou: I have noticed similar side effects when I went from eating like crap, to cutting out the processed foods, to going back to eating like crap. How can it be worth it for us to eat like this? I too had lots of stuff I shouldn't have today and I can definitely see how sluggish and irritable I am. I think it's great that you are realizing how it makes you feel and ready and WILLING to make the change!0
