Runners and Osteo bi flex

Hi everyone.
I'm running a lot. I finally got to running 25 minutes no stopping. I walk an additional 5 and then am increasing my running 5 minutes at a time.
I love to run.
This weekend I noticed my hips ache.
Could a supplement like osteo bi flex help?
I'm 43 and on thyroid meds. I eat very low carbs, mostly meat veggies and nuts. I try to avoid dairy.
I have great shoes, Brooks and was fitted at a running store.

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Osteo Bi Flex is Chondroitin/Glucosamine, which is good for your joints and there is nothing wrong with taking it, however it may or may not help your immediate issue, but will certainly has some long term benefits in terms of joint health. Not sure how pricy the brand name is, but you can also get basic Chondroitin/Glucosamine that will give the same benefit.

When you say increasing 5 minutes at a time? Is that each run or weekly. In any case, it may be too much too soon. 10% per week is a good rule of thumb, which may seem like very little increases for a while, but gives your muscles, bones, tendons, ligaments etc... time to adapt to the stresses of running. Your cardio will develop faster than the other parts, making it seem easier to run farther than you should, and pushing too hard is certainly something that can cause sore hips. I would maybe take a two weeks and stay at 25 minutes per run, keep the pace easy, take some rest days and see if the soreness settles down.

Im sorry I increase 5 minutes each long run (usually once a week).

Thanks so much for your insight. It helped a lot.
