Stress?

Sooo...I have a high-stress job, and I work anywhere from 50-65 hours per week. I have recently noticed that the more stressed I am at work, the less the number on the scale moves that week. I need some REAL tips on how to achieve a few "whooosa" moments in the midst of my chaotic days.
I NEED RELIEF!

I don't suppose suggesting that you strangle a few coworkers or customers is a good idea, so maybe look into yoga and meditation and all that new age hippie stuff? :laugh:0

i take my stress out in an active way, 90 mins of hard cardio kinda makes you forget all your worries
i used to handle stress completely different, now i am calm and collected at all times, unless that is someone is taking the pee0 -
Walking a good distance in the mornings, before work, helps me. Even amidst consistent chaos throughout the day, an occasional reminder of slight (and temporary) soreness in my leg muscles reminds me of the bigger picture (health, the enjoyable solo time spent in the morning with nothing but the tunes cranking and the walking path ahead of me, etc.).
I also took my guitar to work (have an employer who doesn't mind), and stop for about 10 minutes to play, a couple of times 2-3 afternoons a week.0 -
I have a similar stress level, so I can relate to this. What worked for me was focusing on breathing techniques and doing Bikram Yoga. And I am not at all into new age stuff, so it took me a while to get convinced. I still ignore the esoteric background but just use the relaxation techniques. Trying to get enough sleep helps as well. There is new scientific research that a lack of sleep leads to not losing or even gaining weight. Send me a message if you are interested, then I try to find the article.
Also remembering on taking a break even during a stressful day and not to eat in front of my computer. Going outside even for 10 minutes during lunch breaks helps me as well.
Good luck for you.

Agree with the others. I have put 20 lbs back on due to stress (eating hasn't changed if anything got better). I am back on the yoga/meditation/yin (restorative) yoga kick. I know more exercise and activity also burns through the stress. Keep going and your body will respond eventually on what it needs. Good luck to you.0

I won't mock you because I think that's a neat idea and might work.0 -
