Everybody's having a good (if adventure-filled, CP) start to their weekend. The weather here is absolutely beautiful. Sunny, 70 degrees and a light breeze. Finally perfect summer weather, just in time for fall.
I woke up the other morning planning my food diary for the day, Mary, so it's creeping into our subconscious.
I have a woman who I friended through a friend on facebook because she was always so insightful. Her name is Kristine, and she's struggling with her weight. This morning she included this statement in a note:
"Food is not a crutch; food is a stimulus. It reminds me that I am still have senses, if not sense."
That hit me like a punch in the stomach. I use food like that a lot. I find I use food for one of two reasons (other than fueling my body) in order to shut down emotionally or wake up physically. I just had a biscotti with my coffee (something I rarely indulge in lately) and really enjoyed each bite. It means a lighter lunch, but I really wanted it, it was portion-controlled, and I enjoyed it. I need to find a way to incorporate a treat/fuel every rare once in a while, without making it self-punishing. (either hating myself afterwards, or eating too much of a good thing . . .like my old trick of a whole package of Oreos.)
Staying in the lower calories (due to not logging all of my exercise calories) is a bit of a challenge, but I feel smaller today (as evidenced by pants I haven't worn in about a month going on looser). I'm back and forth on using my scale weight as a tool. I think I'm going to stay away from that until I have solid evidence that I've dropped size (like my pants being actually too big, which might not happen) to check my weight.
Uh-oh. . .turning into a blog post boogaloo. . .I'm chatty today.
Oh yeah, I'm aiming for a Bikram session at 3, so hydration and then workout and then rest. (I still have the tiniest tension headache hanging on from this week. . .hoping yoga will stretch that out.) What are good poses for tension (neck and shoulders primarily) Mary? I need to find a tension headache yoga prescription.
Take care, my beloved pebbs.:flowerforyou:0 -
MM - I don't use dressings on my salads. I use cheese (if you use a strong cheese, you'll use less of it) and fruit (cranberries are always at my house, but strawberries, apples, and pears are nice).
V - supported bridge pose - bolster if the head is hurting, block if not - let me know if you need more explanation. Walk clock is great, if you know that one (take your arm back on a wall go from 12 o'clock to 6 o'clock behind you). Sitting, take a strap, hold it in your hands wide, bring your arms up and over your head - together. Close your eyes, pretend your nose is a pencil, draw a spiral with your nose all the way out and then all the way back in again - slowly going out, slowly coming back in. Legs up the wall is great. Lying over a block - lie on the floor, knees bent, place the block so the top just touches the shoulderblades - start with the lowest height and wide so both shoulderblades are brought in. Should be a good place to start. Triangle pose is great for the shoulders - you can support your head on a chair or couch.0 -
I'm...so...sore. I did my push ups anyway and I worked on my car. If you've looked at FB you've seen I finally accomplished one thing on that car (and had it work right!). Now I don't know what to do next on it.
I am really hungry so I have to be careful at dinner. I really really want a burger. Horrible I know. When I've been wanting something for the last several months it's been a hamburger so I think I may be low on iron. Or maybe I just want one!
Tomorrow is my cheat day but I will still try to log. I put on my capris and they are the kind that stretch as you wear them. I really don't like that, but it was a nice feeling when they were falling off me. I do think I am starting to lose again. The test will come when I try to put on my jeans in the morning!
Sore in a good way boogaloo!

Thanks so much! I'll try these when I start to get the neck/shoulder tension. I turn to concrete up there. My chiropractor joked that he needs to take out the hammer and chisel. . .what can I say I'm a tension over-achiever.0 -
Last and hardest yoga day. Only day with a prerequisite: handstand at wall and full backbend - so I'm guessing handstands falling back to backbends - which I do by accident anyway. I'm fairly sore today - everywhere - so it will be tough. Then I have to teach a class and have my regular class tomorrow :noway: I'm going to hurt. Oh, my first long bike ride is 2 weeks away as well - so that's scary. We do have the most beautiful (well that we've seen in ages) forecast: highs in the upper 80s, lows upper 60s - good biking weather!
Yeah, rain, and cooler weather, boogaloo!0 -
Isn't the weather great? Rain in the forecast till Wednesday!
Good news for me! My size 14's are no longer TIGHT 14's! And I don't have a muffin top! So it's working!
To church boogaloo!

Hi pebbs,
MM, I had a similar jeans triumph. Although I have a stupid pooch that I think is where the 85 extra pounds went, so I have this weird little overlap at the front. Not quite a muffin top, but I don't like it. I put on jeans that were too tight post-vacation and they're sort of falling down (not all the way) this morning.
Today is date day, so I'm taking off an unscheduled day from structured exercise, but date day will involve lots of walking.
Take care, and congrats on the cool weather. . .that should be very reviving for you southern types.:flowerforyou:

Hello all. I got a few hours of light walking in today wandering around an arts festival (where I narrowly resisted buying anything). Then I stopped for a coffee and a cupcake (carrot cake). The cupcake ended up having about an inch of frosting on top of it - it looked like the middle had caved in and so they just filled it up with frosting. So I didn't finish it - a minor victory. Otherwise, a pretty mellow day.
Glad you Texans are getting a break from the heat. Congrats to V and MM on the jeans. Mary, I hope you can still move in the morning!
Too short of a weekend boogaloo...0
