Eating in the morning

I am loving my new lifestyle and not missing anything at all, but I know I am supposed to consume most of my calories earlier in the day (breakfast is the most important meal, right?). I'm finding that my problem is, I've never been a morning eater and I'm having such a hard time consuming my calories in the morning as opposed to the afternoon. I have stopped late night eating (nothing past 8 pm or 9pm if I am working afternoons two days a week.) Any tips or advice would be great. Help!

Many people find it easier to control their eating if they have breakfast, but the "most important meal of the day" is a generalization and not true for everyone. If you aren't hungry in the morning, don't eat in the morning. Do what works for you.

People who do Intermittent Fasting (IF), frequently don't eat in the morning, or maybe they'll have a cup of coffee. In one form, people will eat only within a particular window anything from 5 to 10 hours. There's an IF group here, and you can also Google "Intermittent Fasting" "Lean Gains," "Eat Stop Eat" and "Fast 5."

As long as you are eating the number of calories recommended for nutrition and calorie deficit, it doesn't matter when you consume them.

You could even google "carb backloading".

I eat something first thing every morning, but I'd be hungriest late in the day and out of calories if I tried to eat an even division or more in the a.m. I tried it, and it didn't work for me at all. It's good to eat *something* first thing, but there's no reason to try and make it your largest meal. I eat most of my cals between 5 & 10 p.m., and it works for me.

Edit: I feel I should add that I don't do the IF mentioned above. I just eat when I'm hungry, for the most part.

I eat 60-75% of my calories in the last eight hours of my day and I've lost over 120 lbs total. It doesn't matter when you eat. I can eat right before bed and the only effect it'll have on my body is that I will dream vividly that night. Sometimes I eat before bed on purpose to make sleep more entertaining ;)

However, I find that when that I muster up the effort to make an omelette instead of just have a bowl of cereal for breakfast, I don't feel as hungry throughout the day. I don't really know if you get hungry or not, but if you do and you feel obligated to have breakfast, a little protein will go a long way throughout your day.

I have found it easier to do the fasting thing. I stop eating around 7pm and then dont start again till 12 the next day, no breakfast and i dont even feel hungry, but before hand when i was eating breakfast i was hungry after it, weird but true lol, Try it out ,cant do any harm.

Could you try a protein shake? Sometimes I don't feel much like eating first thing, but a protein shake is light enough not to feel too overwhelming (especially if it's iced, I find for some reason!) - plus it's going to give you a decent nutritional start to the day, and should keep you full until mid-morning when you could have a second small breakfast meal :)

The only advantage of meal timing is the indirect impact on your eating habits for the day. There is no direct advantage re weight loss of eating breakfast. Just eat when best for you and hit your calories and macro targets.

I'm not really having any problems with hunger at all and I usually do eat a little something with some water as soon as I wake up. I eat every 2-3 hours throughout the day too. Its good to know that eating more calories in the afternoon won't hurt. Thanks everyone.
