Recumbent Bike Knee Pain?

I was recently given a recumbent bike and I find when I use it my knees start to ache when pedaling. I'm usually okay the first time I use it but the days after my knees ache too much to use it. I've tried messing with the adjustment of the length and stuff but it didn't really help. Any ideas?

Make sure when your pedaling and your foot is at the furthest spot down that it is still slightly bent. Either to straight or sitting to close can cause knee issues. That's what my Manuel said at least0
