Question about calories!

Today is my first day on this website and it seems like a great site! I'm excited to have a place to keep track of everything!
However I'm a little freaked out on how much it's telling me to eat! Today I ate 879 calories. It's telling me to eat 1,200! I felt like I ate a lot and I'm not hungry. I also worked out for at least 2 hours today. Should I just eat more even though i'm not really hungry?! Will my metabolism slow if I don't finish the 729 calories it says I have remaining?! I am on this site because I lost about 25 lbs two years ago and managed to keep it off until now. I gained about 15-17lbs back. This time I want to keep it off for good! and maybe tone up even more than I was before. But should I eat more than I usually do? I want to be healthy and keep the weight off... any advice and ideas would be appreciated! Thanks!

I was surprised at first with how much I was able to eat until I had a binge day where I had McDonald's and Buffalo Wild Wings (The nacho's were amazing but not worth the calories) I went way over that day and it reminded me that it's not about eating less it's about eating smart. btw I'm allowed 1480 w/o exercising. most days I don't get close to my limit.0

I know what you mean! I eat less than 1000 calories a day, I just don't feel hungry. Plus my mom makes fun of me any time I eat anything =/0

I don't know how you can possibly not be hungry. Especially working out for two hours you are definitely not eating enough to fuel your body..seriously0

Under eating or eating less than 1200 calories a day will cause your body to hold onto its fat. They call this starvation mode which you will force your body into. It is bad news and not healthy.0

I actually just went through that same problem yesterday. I did not feel hungry but I was so far off from my calorie goal. I would say there are small things that you can add that will gain lots of calories and not really bother your stomach. Peanut butter 2 tbsp is 190 calories and most of it is good unsaturated fat. Grabbing a handful of mixed nuts is another way to get good calories that is a quick snack that wont fill you up. I read adding certain types of oils to foods also adds good calories and does not affect how full you are. Low fat yogurt is a quick snack as well with good nutrition. I went from 900 calories yesterday to 1800 today from adding small things to my diet. It does not really fill me up but makes me reach my goal. Also if you are exercising, but not eating enough calories, your body will start making you lose weight, but it will destroy muscle faster than fat. So be careful.0
