Replacing it all

I live in Maryland and we had some pretty severe storms on Friday. We lost power and just got it back last night. We had to open the fridge in that time and now everything is a loss. We're going grocery shopping tonight. I'm looking at this as a fresh start, a chance to rid myself of all of the "bad" foods that we have. What should I buy to replace the foods? What are some of your favorite "healthy" foods? I needed to go grocery shopping anyways so non-perishable suggestions are welcome as well.

Thanks!

Mike and I go shopping once a week for all of our food for that given week. We try to pick up one thing of veggies (usually a bag of baby carrots) and one thing of fruit (this week we got blueberries). These make great snacks and you can eat a lot per serving without wasting all your calories. Another thing I love is Chobani yogurt (which is on sale 10 for $10 at Giant this week). I eat one of the 0% fat flavors about a half hour before working out and it gives me that extra boost of protein I need to work hard. Also peanut butter is fantastic, lol, great in protein and can be used in SO many different ways.

    Hope this helps!

Stock up on the produce, this means you may have to go to the store more often but you will eat better and see the pounds start to melt. If it comes in a box, can, bag, or any form of packaging, stay away.

I am in the same boat. So much of our food had to be dumped because of the power outage. If you get a chance check out this link: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/596887-what-are-the-food-staples-you-buy-at-the-grocery-store When I first started on MFP, I had asked what healthy foods do people really enjoy and I received some great responses.

Quaker rice cakes at around 30 to 40 cals are nice and filling. Raw almonds are nice too
