Hi everyone!

I'm Julie and I'm 5 pounds into a 110 pound (:noway: ) weight loss goal. I plan to become a regular on this site and in the discussion forums. My general (lifelong) problem with exercising and eating well has always been with becoming bored with a lack of motivation so I'm glad I'll have this site to help me with both of those problems now!

I lost about 50 pounds 4 years ago and I have gained every ounce back... plus 10 pounds! :embarassed: That will NOT happen to me again!

Hi Julie, and welcome to THE best site on the web! :flowerforyou:
Between the easy to use food counter (which by the way is SUCH an eye opener!) and all the wonderfully supportive members, you WILL be able to lose the weight that you want to, AND, it'll "almost" be easy doing it!
I recommend logging ALL your foods BEFORE you have them, rather than later, as it tends to lead to better food choices. (not to mention you'll know if you've got enough numbers left to have a night time snack, like I ALWAYS try to do!) Some people also like to weigh and measure some things, such as meats, rather than just estimating and possibly being WAY off! :noway:
Don't go making the mistake that if you have LOTS of numbers left at the end of the day that you'll lose even faster, because that DOESN'T happen. Feel free to read any info about the site in the "help" section at the top of the home page. And also, under "all topics", then "general", and check out the first few threads. They'll really help you understand how MFP works.
Before coming here, I had tried just about EVERYTHING out there, including hypnosis, TWICE, and nothing really worked until MFP!
Also, drink LOTS of water, it REALLY DOES help! :drinker:
As for exercise, it doesn't always have to be awful. For my exercise, I walk almost every day, (weather permitting!) I also dance to a fast oldies CD that my husband made up of all my favorite old songs. (Like "Love Shack", Wild, Wild West", "Mony, Mony", "Footloose", and "Gloria")
It's free, (unlike a gym!) fun, and I can even watch tv at the same time, so I never get bored!
I also recently aquired the Wii Fit, and jog to that, which is a lot of fun, and easy too!
So, to make a LONG story short, make good food choices, eat in moderation, get some exercise, and you WILL lose the weight that you want to!

Thanks for the welcome everyone! I had a great new-lifestyle day yesterday despite being at work for 13 hours. I met both my caloric intake and exercise goals (though the exercise was unfortunately at 11.30pm -- it's the only time I had to do it) and wasn't hugry at all. I also didn't have any cravings. The only goal I failed on was getting enough sleep. I did go to bed about an hour earlier than usual, but I still only slept for about 5 hours - I'd like to get that up to at least 6-7 hours. Can I tell you how much better I feel after just ONE day of success? I don't know if it's all psychological or what, but I feel like a new person!

The problem with me is not that I normall eat a ton of unhealthy foods, I just eat at the wrong times. Normally on a 13 hour work day, I'd wake up at 7.30AM and go all the way until I got off work at 10pm before I had even a single bite to eat! :grumble: Then I'd eat everything in sight & go to bed at 2 or 3am & wake up at 7.30am & do it all again.

It's awful for such a hugely overweight person to have to *force* themselves to eat & sleep. I'm focused on being healthy now. I want to be stronger and I want to have more energy so I can do the things I love to do. I'm not so focused on my appearance which is what I've focused on in the past. I'm just considering that a perk to being healthy this time. I'm doing this for *me*. It's not that I'm just tired of being fat, it's that I'm tired of being unhealthy!
