1200 calories for everyone?

Options
I've noticed that most people state that MFP tells them to eat 1200 calories a day? What I want to know is how many calories should I be eating in a day? I know how to lose weight but I'm at a stand still. I know slow and steady wins the race but c'mon I don't always like being the slowest loser :(

Basically I'm losing about 2 lbs a month. I would like to lose another 25 lbs to be completely okay with my weight. I've already lost over 70 lbs over the last 2 years and honestly I'm getting discouraged watching the scale say the same thing week after week with only minimal weight loss.

I'm female. 5"0 exercise 4 times a week (I do stairs and walk) I don't want to go to the gym in the summer. There is no air conditioning and to be brutally honest...IT STINKS in there. That is disgusting. So I do the stairs: 389 up and 389 down (twice each time x 4 times a week) and I try to walk at least 5k 4 times a week.

How much should I be eating? I don't understand TDEE and all that stuff. I'm easily confused. LOL If someone can help by explaining where I'm going wrong I'd appreciate it. I generally eat 1200 calories a day. Sometimes a little less. Rarely more.

Thanks

If you take smaller women, dial in a sedentary lifestyle and then request a 2lb/week weight loss the calculated calories will be well below 1200 hence you see 1200 a lot as it is the minimum "floor".

    You're losing 0.5 lbs/week now.

You could try plugging your numbers into http://www.fat2fitradio.com/tools/bmr/ and see what it says - likely to be a higher number though it will say you can take a couple of hundred off the suggestion.

or have a play with various calorie deficits at http://www.pbrc.edu/the-research/tools/weight-loss-predictor/
