Time to replace my shoes?

Hi guys, I'm a somewhat active jogger (by that I mean I try to run at least 2 times a week, doing a 5k distance each time). I bought my runners from a store that specializes in running shoes last year about this time and I'm sure I've gone over the mileage limit on them, but they haven't bothered me at all until last Friday and I'm also not seeing any real wear on the tread. By the time I was done though, two of my toes on my left foot were feeling like they were sprained and I've also noticed that my right hip is starting to bother me again. I can't tell though if this is from the shoes or the fact that I've been doing the Biggest Loser Wii game that I did earlier in the week.

Thoughts?

It's not just a mileage limit - most shoes have a six month replace limit, because the supportive structures in the shoe start to break down just as a consequence of ageing.

I'd guess it's time to get a new pair.

If it's been a year and you know you've gone over the mileage, then yes, it's time to get a new pair.

I'm having the exact same problem with my hip. Just started yesterday and today . Checked my insoles and sure enough time for new shoes. I write the date I bought show on insoles. Three month"s thats all I get 30-35 miles a week. I get hip pain only when shoes are woren out.

that's a great idea, I'm going to do that with my next pair. I don't get anywhere the mileage you do a week, but I'd have to guess that even though I took the winter off from jogging that I hit the time to change shoe mark.

I just never know because it seems like that Biggest Loser game aggravates my hips for some reason (probably doing an exercise wrong).
