Yesterday while I was canning my cherry pie filling, I started humming the cherry pie song. You know the one. "oh where have you been Billy boy, Billy boy? Oh where have you been charming Billy?"

So, turns out "Charming" Billy has been out to see his bride.."She's a young thing and cannot leave her mother" according to the song.

Anyone else find it odd that Charming Billy has a bride who is too young to leave her mother? Ack!

Wonder what other songs we grew up with that wouldn't be PC in this day and age?

I think it depends what you read into it, i say shes too young mentally.

I've done this! Listened to a song and thought "WAIT ha ha did they just really say that?" :laugh: and then that ONE part gets stuck in your head and you just keep on singing...

I've never heard of the song you were talking about, I thought you were going to say the Warrant song, "Cherry Pie."

anyway:

the "it's raining, it's pouring" - about a guy who dies in his sleep
"rock a bye, baby" - about a baby in a tree during a storm and being blown out of the tree and tumbling, most likely, to it's demise.

When I was young, late 1960's or early 1970's, Simon & Garfunkel had a song "Cecilia". Catchy little tune, but one part is sort of disturbing if you think about it.

Why did he get up to wash his face before coming back to bed?
And what's up with Cecilia taking on another 'someone' while he's in the loo? Was this 'someone' a guy or a girl?
