Is PCOS always insulin resistant?

I've heard that it is, but I don't know if that's true or not. My doctor never told me anything about me being insulin resistant, but I've been told that insulin resistance must be present for PCOS to manifest.

No. But upwards of 80% to 90% are insulin resistant. But there are some that are not, usually nicknamed "skinny PCOS" because you don't have the weight gain issue, but would have polycystic ovaries, possibly cycle issues, excessive hair growth, acne, etc. PCOS is a syndrome because not everyone has the same list of symptoms.0
