What a difference a year makes!!

I just posted a blog, but wanted to also share my progress over the last year on the forums. I don't have time to do much sharing on here, but I hope my progress helps motivate others to just stay positive and stick with it. Living a healthy life isn't a quick fix...it's forever! I was never obese, just overweight for many years. I remember friends and family saying I looked great. Even when I was barely meeting the Army's standards, people said I didn't look heavy. Again, what a difference a year makes.

People that I meet for the first time now have a hard time believing I was twenty pounds or even forty pounds heavier (which I was several years ago). I am now the fit girl. A newly arrived officer saw me with a small pack of Haribo gummy bears the other day and said, "I knew you ate things other than vegetables". I am always bringing my food to work and eating a lot of salad. These NSVs make me so happy and just reinforce what I know to be the right thing for me and my family. I will never go back to not exercising regularly. I will never allow myself to over-indulge for days on end.

If you need any extra motivation, I encourage all of you to go to a website for the HBO series, 'The Weight of the Nation'. It should serve as a wake-up call for all of us....even those who have never struggled with weight. Our society has a lot of scary issues that make being healthy very tough. We have to work together to protect ourselves and our children. Here's the link, http://theweightofthenation.hbo.com/. Take the time to watch the four episodes.

Finally here are some photos. I've lost right around 20 pounds, gone from a size 10/12 to a good 6. My fitness level has skyrocketed and I am challenging myself to do more. If you want to learn more about what I have been doing, check out my blog here or at http://drsteph01.blogspot.com or send me a message. I am not going anywhere. MFP has been a huge part of my success as well!!
