I have a health coach through my employment that is supposed to guide you in wieght loss or whatever you waqnt. I asked her the other day what exactly is the %'s of carbs, fat, & protien that you should have each day. She said 50% carbs, 30% fat, & 20% protien. Having been on this site since about Feb., I have seen more protiens than carbs being consumed. I asked her about such a high % of carbs & low protien, & she said people eat to much protien, & that the majority of carbs should come from fruits & veggies. I agree where the carbs come from, but what about the rest? I'm 63 & have a fairly active job, try to walk like I'm supposed to, ride bike some, but don't work out. My main goal is to just be healthier. Since joining & educating myself through MFP, & according to my last blood panel, everything is within good limits except my LDL & I have a pretty good plan of action for that. I have lost about 25 lbs & I expect to lose more from just changing my habits, but not my main goal. So are those %'s reasonable, or is my health coach not as educated as I would expect her to be. Oh yeah, my BP has dropped to acceptable levels by trying to keep my sodium levels at 1500 mg, & if I can't hit that, definitely below 2500. I quit BP meds too. Any suggestions???

I'm surprised at that too because 50/30/20 is exactly what I eat, and I thought that was not good and that I should try to eat 40/30/30.

C5CD2DD7840544979A549EC47E56A02B.ashx suggests 56g of protein (10 - 35% of calories), 20-35% of calories as fats and 45-65% of calories as carbs (130g). So she's on message with Government guidelines.
