Just started back working out and eating clean this week, ive got about 40 lbs that i need to lose, i hate how i look right now. Im so out of shape and i feel like its gonna take forever for me to feel good about myself. I just dont want to get discouraged and give up, i feel like i constantly back track, i will do good for a while and then let other things get in the way of what i need to do. Sometimes i feel like i will never get there...but i cant be like this for the rest of my life. i mean im like depressed about it. i dont want to do anything. I dont want to go out with friends, i dont want my husbands friends to see me, when im at the gym i feel like im the fattest girl in the classes that i take. Im just so depressed and i hate it. I see all of u that have come so far and u look amazing, i just hope that i can do the same and stay motivated. ANy tips u have to stay motivated and on track please share! Thanks!

First of all, those thoughts that you have about not being good enough are a lie. We all struggle with those, so you are not alone. But you need to understand that they are a lie, and when you have them learn to rebuke them - recognizing them as the untruth that they are.
Secondly if this is indeed a change of lifestyle for you, it won't take long for you to begin to feel good if you allow yourself to rejoice at the small changes! Every step no matter how small is a step in the right direction.
Honestly use the tools provided here like the food diary to educate yourself about what it is that you're eating and 'how' you eat, then make those small changes one at a time.
You will find many people here who are happy to give wise advice, and to offer support when needed. It helps you to realize that you are not alone in this - we are all on the same journey, and we can pick one another up when needed.
Read the articles here, particularly these:

They will help begin your 're-education' in how to begin this new and exciting lifestyle.
This is a great place, I'm very happy that you're here!0 -

Wow! While reading your post I felt like I was reading a page from MY journal! I can completely relate. For me I have found several little ways to keep moving forward.
-setting short goals helps a lot. I noticed I work harder when I have short term (a month or two) goals. For example I have a trip to Vegas in two weeks so about a month ago I got really motivated to lose weight and set a weekly goal for myself and posted my weekly goal weights on the fridge.
- Istarted signing up for charity walks/runs. I did my first 10K walk/run not too long ago and it felt great. When I signed up I wasn't sure if I could even finish but I did. Since they are charity runs/walks I get to feel good about helping others and helping myself.
-Fitness classes are good too.
-Another thing I like is to try is planning a work out ahead of time that way I don't falter once at the gym.
-planning/making meals ahead of time helps me. I make breakfast and lunch the day before that way I don't make as many on the spot bad food choices.
-I also like logging my food & work outs before doing/eating them. This helps me stick to it and avoid mindless eating.
In this month's issue of Self fitness magazine there is a quiz to figure out what motivation works for you.
Sorry for rambling! Hope some of this helps.

I wrote out some short goals the other day for each month and i did "rewards" if i reach my goal (not food, like outings)
Thats amazing!! I have been thinking of doing the same thing, i have to train for sure cuz im out of shape but there is a Breast Cancer walk mid october im planning to do.
Love fitness classes, did a kickboxing this AM and did a hip hop class last night.
I also have been planning my food and workouts ahead of time to make sure im ready for the day and im on track (im a big planner hehe)
Thats a great idea about making the foods before hand, i am gonna start doing that for sure. So that way its ready when i am!
Were totally on the same page, im glad im doing the things that i need to be doing! Thanks alot!0 -
Don't give up! Here are some things I have learned that have helped me:
1. This is not just to get back into my skinny jeans, I want optimum health for life. If I have an off day, I get over it and start anew the next day. Even if I have an off week or month, I know that I didn't put on the weight overnight and it won't come off overnight. I NEVER thought I would be able to get back into jeans I have been carrying around with me for the past 15 years and have been unable to wear..well..I'm wearing them right now as I sit and type this. Hurray!
2. This time around, I refused to give up favorite foods (This is why I always gained back the weight I lost until now.) If I want a roasted coconut ice cream waffle cone...I'm getting one! Of course, I don't eat them every day but if I had an especially strenuous work-out, I am going to get me that ice cream cone, or whatever food I have been craving. BTW-I found that for me, sugar cravings were a result of having too much yeast bacteria and with the right supplement and probiotics, my sugar cravings are WAY down. I keep pasta, cheese, greasy meats, fried foods, etc. at a minimum but again, if that is what I am really craving, I will indulge as long as I have had a great three hour hike or similar.
3. Lots of water and fiber this time around has made a huge difference.
4. Liquid Bcomplex vitamin. Fell off the wagon over summer break..no weigh ins, no counting calories, eating whatever. I thought I had gained back 3-5lbs but then I got on that scale and I had lost 2lbs!
5. Ease up on the scale. As long as it is generally moving in the right direction, I'm happy. I stopped worrying about not loosing more than half a lb. per week. Now, I just focus on my calorie daily goals and excercise.
6. Other than the lbs., I had a blood test done and my tryglicerides are way down, my blood pressure, and LDL cholesterol are down to healthy ranges. Maybe I didn't loose the 33 lbs in six months like I wanted, but I feel healthier, stronger, and I feel like I am in control of my health and body for the first time in my life!
Please appreciate and love who you are! You are beautiful and have already lost 20lbs!! That in and of itself is a big deal. You will have days (I have definitely had my share) when you just want to give up, but come around and don't give in...you can do it!:flowerforyou:0
