Breaking up with your trainer

I've been working with my trainer since October/November and really love the workouts and the company. I could not have come this far without his support and guidance, BUT! I took a kickboxing class at another gym and really love it. At the martial arts gym I will have unlimited classes in fitness kickboxing, muy thai kickboxing, Jeet kune do and weapons training. Right now I have cardio and weights and no classes.

I can't afford to keep my trainer and join the new gym, but I'm ready for a change. So, how do you break up with your trainer?

Just be up front and tell him that you took a class somewhere else and you really liked it.. so you decided to go join over there.
Tell him that if for some odd reason you decide to change your mind, that you will keep him in mind.

I broke up with a trainer because he pretty much ditched me.. Told me he was coming back and wound up getting fired instead.

Well it's not like you were going to have a personal trainer forever. Just tell him you are ready to move on and do things on your own. Thank him and tell him what you told us about how helpful he was and how you valued your experience, etc.

Just explain exactly that to him. I'm working on my certification and I would certainly understand. :) He doesn't expect you to be his client for a really long time.
