So I have a HRM on because I usually hit the fitness center at my job. Well i took a peek at the Calories burned Mode right before the workout and it said "698 Kcal"??

So, I burned more sitting here than my INSANITY workout early this AM? How could this be??

How long were you sitting there for? The HRM is probably not completely accurate, but you also do burn calories by just being alive.

It is not giving you correct numbers- HRMs work well for calorie counting during aerobic exercise, and outside of aerobic exercise they only work to monitor your heart rate. During aerobic exercise, there is a relationship between oxygen exchange and your heart rate, and it is actually the oxygen exchange that determines calorie burn, not the heart rate itself. The same relationship does not hold true at rest or under anaerobic conditions, so the calorie counter doesn't work.
