Hi my name is Bonnie. I was 125 lbs when I got married and now I'm at 249. My weight problem started when I got pregnant with my 1st daughter and I never really lost it all when daughter #2 came along. Now my husband and I just celebrated our 31 anniversary and I really need to get myself in shape. I have had several health issues besides my weight to complicate things.
I have had several knee operations, 2 of which were total knee replacements on the same knee, I have had breast cancer and reconstruction surgery all in one, and beat that in 2002, had my shoulder operated on, my hand and wrist 2 times in 2010...I could go on and on. I also have 5 different things wrong in both feet. So you see I'm falling apart and need to get back up and get this weight off. All my single life I was thin and then kids started coming along and blew that weight out the window.
I was referred to this site by a Facebook friend who said she used this site when she lost 60 lbs and suggested I try it. I just need a lot of encouragement and help to get the weight off. I volunteer at a Fire Dept and we got a group of us last week starting to work out together. They say I'm kicking butt out there. We started last Wed and Fri going to the park and playing racquetball. Then tonight we up'd it to going to the gym (we now share a gym with the Sheriff's Office). So we went today for the first time and I did really good. After working at the gym for an hour we went to the park and played racquetball for another hour. So we are going to start at 3 times a week and try to work up to 5 days a week.
Before last week when we started working out, I had to take naps in the afternoon, I wasn't getting up til noon and if a call went out and I didn't feel good that day, I wouldn't go. I just laid around the house watching tv, listening to music or playing with our 3 granddaughters. My husband has been doing a lot around the house and he isn't in good health either. He is 54 and has had 5 heart attacks, has 25 stents in and has had 25 heart caths. I feel bad everytime I saw him doing something and I was just laying around. Now I think I can start helping him again. Our youngest daughter and her 3 little girls live with us and they try to get me to do things and most of the time I would be tired. That is stopping now and I feel better just in the last 6 days since starting to workout.
So if anyone out there has any other suggestions for me that I may not have heard yet, please let me know. I'm open to just about everything because I'm determined to get get some of this weight (100 lbs) off and get down to 150.
Thank you for listening and hope y'all have a great week.

Bonnie,
Welcome to MFP, this is a great site with a lot of great support. What you are looking to achieve is absolutely possible but is going to come down to nutrition and moving your body.
With your knee injuries and foot problems what type of activities are you able to do?

Well since I have started working out, My feet really don't hurt like they used to and my knee, well I guess its doing pretty good too. I have been playing racquetball and that's giving it a workout in itself. It actually feels pretty good right now. I don't really hurt like I thought I would from sitting or laying down all the time.0
