Advocare-- is it legit?

A friend of mine takes Advocare, he wants me to try it.
Has anyone tried or is anyone currently taking Advocare? I've tried the Spark energy drink, and I will say it's rather tasty but it didn't give me anymore energy than other products.
What are your thoughts? A girl at my CF gym takes it and I've seen results in her in just a couple of months. However, she was also CFing twice/day 6 days a week and she was 110% paleo- like legit paleo, didn't even eat sweet potatoes because it's technically still a grain- even though paleo allows sweet potatoes.

How exactly are sweet potatoes, which are a tuber, "technically still a grain?"0 -

I honestly don't know, but that's what Robb says in his book. He says some people eat SP, some dont. He also makes reference to peas. peas are technically legumes because they come in pods, but they're also way more green and nutritious than legumes in general. so it's ok by paleo standards to eat peas.0 -

After you try it, would you then have to purchase it from him?0 -
I have a friend that sells it and swears by it. I will choose to steer clear of it because the whole regimen is supplements, chemicals, and artificial sweeteners I did do a little reading on their website to see "what's in that stuff" when he started selling it because I was curious. But this is my personal decision, mind you!
I'd rather spend my hard-earned money on real, whole foods and being sensible about my calories and exercise. The long-term results for me learning to fuel my body correctly with this method are more appealing than a quick fix that raises my heart rate with stimulants like Spark and Slam.
**Disclaimer...this is purely my personal opinion, and is not based on any intensive research or facts.**0 -
What are the benefits you're trying to get from a meal replacement (conveignence, nutritionally balanced, un -processed nutrtition source, etc)?0

I have a facebook friend who is constantly pushing this stuff (she's a seller). She does the "cleanse" every few months and blabs on and on about dropping 20 lb. But its the same 20 lb every time because it seems the second she stops the cleanse the weight comes back. Just a 3rd party observer's opinion.0

Sweet potatoes aren't a grain, but they are a starch...I wonder if that's the connection they are trying to make?
Advocare is set up where you can buy from a distributor, or you can set yourself up as a distributor to save 40% off your own purchases. (Yes, I've spent a lot of time listening to my Advocare-selling friend's pitches over the past 2 years - lol!) In the end, you are financially benefitting the original distributor either way.0 -

And THAT, right there is a huge red flag, IMHO! :noway: Learn how to eat right for your own body in the first place, people!0 -

My thought exactly.0 -
I tried the products and was a distributor a few years ago. They are overpriced and really not necessary. There is nothing there that will harm you, but not worth the price.0
