I am a full-time college professor, and live in Texas (this year). I am married, and my husband of 34 years, has been employed as an instructor 1/4 time for the last year due to the recession and his age. The older you are, the harder it is to get a full-time job once you have lost your original one. We have one son who is 19, attending college and living at home. He has cystic fibrosis and has been on at-home IVs and other assorted treatments for the last year due to a resistant lung infection. As for me, I used to actually compete in martial arts tournaments, but now have some physical ailments (back, hip, polyneuropathy) that have limited my mobility. I am here because I tend to be a stress eater, and have been under quite a bit of stress for quite a while, so as you can guess my weight has ballooned over the years. I started dieting on my own in February and joined MFP at the beginning of June. It's been very helpful tracking my weight and reading other folks stories, recipes and ideas.
