HRM Gross vs Net Calories Burned

I was wondering you guys know if the HRM provides gross or net calories burned. I have a polar FT4 and I don't wanna to over-estimate calories burned by inputting gross since MFP already has those in the daily target amount.

Or did I misunderstand something about gross vs net calories?

Do you mean your exercise burn minus what you normally would have burned just sitting around? This is why I eat back 75% of cals on HRM :)

That's right. So I guess HRM gives total resting calories + exercise calories.

Yup! Just take your BMR, divide by 24 (hours) and subtract that if you want an exact number for an hour of exercise.

Thanks! Some days I am over and other days I'm under, so it all works out I guess (plus all this stuff is not exact anyways unless you do an RMR test).

Thanks for the clarification. I think I will adjust for Nets when I key in from now on.

For me, I only subtract my BMR calories if I exercise for an hour or more. Less than an hour, and I don't care enough LOL.
