If you're prone to stress eating what do you do to stop yourself when things get really tough? :frown:

I have struggled with stress and boredom eating in the past. So far, I have been doing good with it since January (down 35 lbs and in my best shape). For me these things seem to work:

    1) I make sure I eat a good amount of healthy foods at my scheduled meals and scheduled snacks - then I don't feel compelled to grab food when I am stressed or bored
    2) I don't keep easy to eat/high calorie foods in the house (cookies, cakes, chips ice cream etc..) If I do go to grab something it's only going to be fruit or nuts because that is all I keep around.
    3) I ask myself if I am really hungry
    4) I try to keep busy
    5) I plan and look forward to my next meal as opposed to shoving something in my mouth short term. If I know I am having a nice piece of fish and a salad for dinner, then I look forward to cooking and making it instead of eating something crappy.
    6) If I am genuinely hungry I eat a small healthy snack (see number 2)

    Stress power walking?

Primal scream therapy (into a pillow can help if you don't want to scare the bejeebus out of the neighbors)?

Punching a pillow really hard (apparently I'm a pillow-abuse enabler)?

Very intense sweaty workout, so intense that you can't think about anything for a half hour?

    Yoga?

Meditation and/or rockin' out to good music you enjoy?
